The Moms and Dads Support Group is a long-standing group that helps parents of children with disabilities understand that the challenges they face daily are the same ones that others in the Group have experienced and learned to deal with.
The personal help that one parent can provide to another who has similar needs, in the relaxed and casual atmosphere of a Moms & Dads Support Group meeting, can be helpful in coping with the situations that arise and the range of feelings that are part of the experience.
A typical meeting features a profile of a child with special needs through pictures and stories told by one of the parents or family members. There also is discussion about a topic that relates to having a child with a disability, such as school issues, relationship issues, or dealing with professionals.
The group meets on the last Thursday of each month.
